BENJAMIN KERSEY - MUSIC DIRECTOR
RESUME
Benjamin Kersey is a Franco-Ontarian music director known for his stylistic versatility within theatre and classical music, whose playing has been described as “absolutely wonderful, both musically and technically.”
Passionate about new Canadian works, he has had the pleasure of working on musicals by Britta Johnson and collaborators Sara Farb, Anika Johnson and Nick Green, as well as shows by Scott Christian & Lezlie Wade, Ted Dykstra & Steven Mayoff, Ben Elliott & Fatuma Adar, Adam Sakiyama & Kat Sandler, Matt Stodolak & Katie Kerr, and Suzy Wilde & Rose Napoli, among others. Recent credits include Hadestown, Joseph…, & Juliet (Mirvish); Silent Screen, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Emma Bovary (National Ballet); My Fair Lady, Kabarett, Cotton Club (Shaw); The 7 Fires, Kelly v. Kelly, RETOLD, Take the Moment, UnCovered…Dolly Parton (Musical Stage); Enchanting, Jesus Christ Superstar (Sheridan); Dion (Coal Mine); Chris Mrs. (Boldly); Sondheim’s Follies in Concert at Koerner Hall (RCM); as well as cabaret acts across Ontario and NYC.
Benjamin is a two-time Dora nominee and recipient of the ARTES scholarship, an award for Franco-Ontarian artists. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto with double majors in Classical Piano and French Literature and a past RBC Apprentice at Musical Stage. He is proud to be a member of the AFM and to be represented by Talent House, and is forever thankful to those who have helped shape his artistry.
