RESUME
BIO:
Lezlie Wade is an award-winning writer & director. She has spent eight seasons at the Stratford Festival directing musicals, comedies and dramas. Her production of SPAMALOT is one of the longest running shows in the festival history. She was in the inaugural Michael Langham Workshop for Classical Direction and the first graduate of that program to direct on a Stratford Festival main stage.
Lezlie has also directed at the Shaw Festival, Theatre Aquarius, The Grand Theatre, Musical Stage Co, and Theatre Calgary. As an associate director for Des McAnuff, she has worked at the LaJolla Playhouse and on Broadway.
As a director she has had the great pleasure to work with Tatiana Maslany, Sam Bee, Andrea Martin, Mary Walsh, Wendy Crewson, Christopher Plummer, Eric Idle, and Margo Kidder.
Her movie musical, Red Letter Day, won a New York International film award and was the official selection at the Kineko Film Festival in Japan, as well as the Washington Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival, Golden Bee Film Festival in India and the USA Film Fest.
As a writer, Lezlie is a graduate of the BMI Lehmen Engel Workshop in New York and has written Book & Lyrics for several musicals including Sticky Fingers, Dead Reckoning, Nobody’s Children and The Tale of Gifted Prince, currently optioned by Somerled Arts and in development in NYC.
Her five-hander musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol has received productions across Canada. The Gifted Prince was short-listed for the Tom Hendry Award for best new musical.
Lezlie was also short-listed for the Stiles and Drewe Best New Song prize in the UK and the recipient of two Tyron Guthrie Awards and the David Edney Writing Award through the Stratford Festival. She was also nominated for a Dora Award for best direction of a musical for A Man of No Importance.
