BIO

Marcia Kash began her career as an actress at The  Royal  Court  Theatre  in  London, England.  Her first foray into play writing was in the early 90’s with the highly successful farce  WHO’S UNDER WHERE? (co-written with Douglas E. Hughes) which has since received close to two hundred productions around the globe and has been translated into eight languages.   Also in partnership with Mr. Hughes, she penned the popular whodunnit  A PARTY TO MURDER  which premiered in 1996 and has subsequently enjoyed numerous productions in  Canada, the U.S and the  U.K.  and China. In addition they have written a period-comedy entitled  TOO MANY COOKS (2003), JACK OF DIAMONDS (2015), a comedy set in a retirement home, SOMETHING FISHY (2017), a five-hander about an election campaign. All of these plays are available through Samuel French Inc.   

Working solo, Marcia was commissioned to write  DISCOVERING ELVIS  for Lunchbox Theatre in  Calgary  in 1997.  The play has since been produced  throughout  Canada  and the  U.S.  It was translated into French (A LA RECHERCHE D’ELVIS) where it has enjoyed great success in various productions in  Quebec, winning a Les Masques nomination for best new play.  Other writing credits include:  FOR THIS MOMENT ALONE  a drama based on a true story set in Toronto in 1948. Originally written as a screenplay with support from Telefilm Canada, A BELLY FULL, co-written with Mary Colin Chisholm, is now also a play for 7 women and two men. It  received its world premiere in the UK at The Mill at Sonning.  Up next is a thriller entitled DEADLINE written with Douglas E. Hughes and a new musical based on the Sherlock Holmes story A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA with collaborators Douglas E. Hughes and Scott Christian.  

 In addition to writing and acting, Marcia is also an accomplished director.
