BIO:
Sean Mulcahy is a multi-disciplinary Production Designer passionate about storytelling and character-driven discovery in Scenography and Wardrobe Design. Experienced in both the profit and non-profit sectors, Sean’s work has been showcased across North America and Central America, garnering several nominations and awards for outstanding Design and other contributions to Canadian Arts and Culture. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations with leading contemporary artists and organizations, including The Shaw Festival, The Stratford Festival, Drayton Entertainment, Theatre Aquarius, Canadian Stage, The Globe and Grand Theatres, The Obsidian Theatre Company, and Neptune Theatre. Sean’s commercial projects include production design, styling and visual collaborations with Starvox Entertainment, Lighthouse Entertainment, and Koba Entertainment, World PRIDE, as well as influential brands such as Canadian Tire, The Home Depot, Indigo/Chapters, The Discovery and Lifetime Film Networks.
With a passion for shared knowledge and mentorship of emerging artists, Sean is an adjunct Design Professor at Dalhousie University and Toronto Metropolitan University.
Highlighted Awards: A Guthrie and The Tom Patterson Design Award (Stratford Festival), multiple nominations and 3 Merritt awards for Outstanding Design (Theatre Nova Scotia) and Outstanding Wardrobe Design (PRIDE Toronto). Sean is the 2020 Laureate of the prestigious Virginia and Myrtle Cooper Award for Costume Design (Ontario Arts Council/Ontario Arts Federation). Sean is a graduate and MFA candidate from York University and a member of the Associated Designers of Canada, IATSE 659.
